The Helen Foster Snow Foundation is helping develop the Gung Ho Collaborative Curriculum (GHCC), an open-source Mandarin curriculum designed for Dual Language Immersion programs and Chinese language classrooms.
Built in the United States and freely available to educators, GHCC is designed around a simple idea: Students learn language best when they use it to accomplish meaningful work together.
Today's students are growing up in a world transformed by technology and artificial intelligence. As these tools become more powerful, one question becomes increasingly important:
What skills will matter most when information is always available?
We believe the answer is human connection.
The ability to communicate, collaborate, build relationships, and work across differences will become increasingly valuable. Yet many young people are experiencing greater isolation and fewer opportunities for meaningful face-to-face interaction.
The Gung Ho Collaborative Curriculum responds to this reality by making connection a central part of the learning experience. Students use language to accomplish real tasks together, transforming it from an academic exercise into a way of engaging with others.
